5) Images are Powerful Means of Communicating!
"When the soul wishes to express herself, she throws an image of the experience before her and enters into it." ~ Meister Eckhart
Images are powerful means of communicating with self and others, particularly when emotion is involved. When we employ images in our communication in addition to words, we access and activate both our right and left brain functions thus creating synergistic dialogue internally and externally that honors and celebrates our wholeness and brings forth our greatest gifts.
As shown in the diagram above based on the well-known yet often misunderstood research of Albert Mehrabian, in face-to-face communication involving highly emotional content (which many of our most important relational dialogues likely do!) over half - 55% - of the messages we convey and receive come through the VISUAL sense...our EYES, not our ears! Clearly through inference this research highlights the power of the image in communication with self and others. At "Just" Blank Cards it is our belief and experience that via the right-brained vehicle of the image, powerful messages can come through.
Additionally, for those interested in connecting with the child within, the child within one's relational partner, and/or an actual child, communicating via images can be amazing. Children, both external and internal, communicate via emotions and images as these methods were developed well before learning to communicate via the spoken and then the written word, one of our primary left-brain communication vehicles. Images and the emotions they convey are a special language of children and of the soul.
